Double win for Wiedenroth and Gilloux in Monaco Alpes-Maritimes Round

Gilloux and Spielmann are the 2024 World Cup Winners

Col de Turini, France – Monday 7 October 2024 – The WES UCI E-MTB XC World Cup wrapped up intensely at Col de Turini during the Monaco Alpes-Maritimes Round, presented by Magneti Marelli Checkstar in collaboration with the Monegasque Cycling Federation.

The 8th and final race of the season saw Reigning World Champions Sofia Wiedenroth (Specialized) and Jérôme Gilloux (Lapierre Overvolt) both secure victories in The Département 06, France.

The path

The starting grid was based on the overall standings, placing Gilloux in pole position.

Monaco Alpes-Maritimes Round Race 2 Start

Anna Spielmann (Haibike) could not race due to serious physical issues, leaving Wiedenroth to take the top spot in the starting order. Despite sitting out the race, she still clinched her first World Cup title.

On the other hand, although not at her peak physically, the German dug deep to compete in Race 2.

She completed the circuit and claimed victory, making it a 2-2 weekend. French rider Solene Bouissou (Team Oise Organisation) took second place.

In the Men’s race, Gilloux never lost his lead. He maintained a strong and consistent pace throughout all laps, gradually pulling away from a solid Mirko Tabacchi (Leynicese RDR Italia Factory Team) in second place.

The French secured his fourth consecutive World Cup title, adding to an impressive season where he also donned the Rainbow Jersey.

The third place was claimed by newcomer Adrián Cuellar (Artesana Bafang Factory), who had earned the Raspini Pole Position the previous day and followed it up with a brilliant first-ever podium finish in WES.

On the other hand, the last Magneti Marelli Checkstar Power Lap Award went to Wiedenroth and Gilloux.
