Breil-sur-Roya to host the 2023 WES Monaco Round

The World Cup Season Opener to take place next 20-21 May

Monaco (P.ty) 23 February 2023 – WES is glad to announce a new, great hosting venue for the Monaco Round to kick-off the 2023 UCI E-MTB XC World Cup racing season. For the first time, the traditional season opener in collaboration with the Monegasque Federation of Cycling will take place in Breil-sur-Roya, with brand-new, exciting racetracks designed on a mountain area overlooking the Monaco Principality Bay with breath-taking views.

Breil-sur-Roya is part of the Historical Sites of the Grimaldi of Monaco in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, therefore, part of the heritage of the Principality in the French territory. The beautiful commune will be part of the World’s greatest E-Mountain Bike racing, being a spectacular destination for all E-Mountain bikers, offering a highly promising experience for both pro-riders and amateurs, with challenging trails to get the most out of an E-Bike.

Sébastien Olharan, Mayor of Breil-sur-Roya, expressed his gladness: “We are delighted to host the opening round of the WES UCI E-MTB World Cup, an event combining a top-level sports competition and an attraction for our local E-Bikers community. WES will be a great opportunity to help discover our territory in a sustainable and exciting way and get closer to the protagonists of global E-Mountain Biking”.

The World Cup racing confirms the successful double-race format, like in the past two years, this time, on a very demanding, rocky, dirt soil featuring tough, steep climbs and extreme slopes where the World’s top athletes will face new challenges, the fresh tracks to be unveiled in the upcoming weeks.

The “Ride WES” will take amateurs with different skill levels on and around the World Cup trails and a new event is scheduled to take the bravest riders from the Port of Monaco to the World Cup venue at Breil-sur Roya for a brand-new WES randonnée.
