Monaco (P.ty), Wednesday 10 February 2021 – WES Management in consultation with cycling’s
governing body the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) decided to postpone the 2021 WES
Season Opener, traditionally set to take place in Monaco (P.ty) and Peille (F).
The event, scheduled for March 27-28, will be held on April 24-25, instead.
The decision was made in light of new Covid-19 pandemic measures taken by the French authorities on 30 January. The restrictions applying to the French side of the WES event area and the overall uncertainty may affect the event logistics and the organisation of the UCI E-MTB XC World Cup in March.
WES Monaco Round presented by SMEG, Société Monégasque de l’Electricité et du Gaz, in collaboration with the Fédération Monégasque de Cyclisme (FMC) will feature a double E-XC race, meaning athletes would have the opportunity to earn double points in one weekend and so double their chances to qualify for the UCI E-MTB World Championships at the end of the season. The battle for the rainbow jersey will then start at WES Monaco Round, as this World Cup is the exclusive competition providing eligible points to access the UCI E-MTB World Championships.

As previously announced, the sole 100% electric-bike series will stop by Monaco, Italy,
Switzerland, France and Spain, introducing new, charming venues, for the athletes’ and amateurs’
delight.
